Cabinet waives tariffs on 5 products

The Cabinet today approved the waiver on import duty of five products, to help operators in flood-affected industrial estates.

The 6-month waiver will stay until June this year.
Industry Minister MR Pongsawat Sawasdiwat said that the five products are PVC plastic pellet, aluminum cans, aluminum can lids, refrigerators and washing machine.
He said that the decision is part of the government's plan to alleviate the flood impacts on the manufacturing sector.
Earlier, Honda received the waiver on the imports of completely-built unit vehicles, as its facilities are under recovery process and should not resume operations before April. Other automakers also benefit from zero duties on components and parts, following the floods which devastated several suppliers.
