Quality to boost Thai leather products export

The export value of Thai leather and leather products is expected to grow by 15 per cent this year to US$2 billion (Bt65 billion), despite shortage of raw materials, according to the International Trade Promotion Department.
Anchalee Promnart, deputy director-general of the department, said that increasing awareness of Thai goods’ quality will boost the export value.
The value expanded 15.2 per cent to $1.8 billion last year.
To increase domestic sales, the department in cooperation with Thai Leathers Goods Association will organise “Thai Leather Weeks: Bag and The City” fair during February 17-26 at Ratchadapisek Exhibition Hall. More than 100 exhibitors will join the fair, expected to generate at least Bt20 million immediate sales.
