Praised in a consumer survey that it is the 6th most prominent brand for air-conditioners and home appliances, Midea Electric Trading (Thailand) Co Ltd is doubling sales this year to cash in on the popularity.

According to the market research in 2011 by Haymarket Media Co Ltd, Midea brand is ranked 6th in Asian countries. The company's products are now marketed in over 150 countries in Asia, Europe and America and they are imported and distributed in Thailand by Midea Electric Trading (Thailand).
Somchai Pisitjing, president, attributed the ranking to the European standard product quality, attractive designs, reasonable prices, and distribution networks.
To double sale, more ceiling and floor-typed air conditioners will be launched to win a higher market share in Thailand this year, banking on the energy-saving feature. It plans to sell over 40,000 units this year, through the dealer network which would be expanded from 200 dealers to 250 this year.
Somchai added that the only factor to affect the market is the government's plan to impose taxes on air-conditioners. He urged the government to review its plan, as air-conditioners are not luxury products and are considered necessary for all.
