Private sector pressures for solution on FATF blacklist

The joint private sector committee and partners are pressuring the government to comply with the requirements of the Financial Action Task Force (on Money Laundering) or FATF as soon as possible.

TBA Secretary General Twatchai Yongkittikul, and chairman of the working committee, chaired the urgently-held press conference at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre today.

Through the joint action, they are working in coordination with the Attorney General's Office and the Anti-Money Laundering Office in pressuring for a new version of anti-money laundering laws.

The committee consists of Board of Trade, Federation of Thai Industries and Thai Bankers Association. Joining the force are the Federation of Capital Market Associations.

In February, the international anti-money laundering watchdog put Thailand on its blacklist due to the country's inability to enact more money laundering laws aimed at countering international tourism.
