InTouch weighs EPL broadcast

InTouch, formerly known as Shin Corp, is interested in exploring opportunities to bid for the rights to air live English Premier League matches in Thailand to enhance its planned broadcasting business.

The company is conducting a feasibility study on the matter. It has yet to decide whether it will make a pitch for the broadcasting rights alone or with potential partners, InTouch
executive chairman Somprasong Boonyachai said.
InTouch’s expression of interest follows similar announcements by GMM Grammy, RS, Cable Thai Holding (CTH) and the existing rights holder, TrueVisions.
TrueVisions’ three-year rights to broadcast Premier League matches expire next year. Bidding for the right to broadcast next season’s matches will begin late this year.
InTouch recently announced its interest in exploring business opportunities in the terrestrial digital TV business. It is waiting for the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission to finalise the industry regulations.
InTouch is the parent of Advanced Info Service and Thaicom.
