Tesco Lotus ups shrimp purchases from Thai farmers

Tesco Lotus is committed to purchasing Bt2 billion worth of shrimp from Thai farmers, a 20 percentage point jump over 2011.
The contract was signed yesterday for the supply of 12,000 tonnes from shrimp farmers and cooperatives.
Tesco chairman Suntorn Arunanondchai said the procurement for next year should grow consistently as there is great demand in the world market for shrimp from Thailand. Tesco has a policy to promote sales of Thai shrimps, fruits, and other Thai foods to serve the government’s campaign to promote Thailand as the Kitchen of the World, he said. – The Nation

NBTC meeting on Monday to discuss Olympics broadcast
The National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC) will hold a meeting on Monday to find ways to help almost 7 million satellite TV households watch the Olympic Games, who might otherwise miss out on the quadrennial event beginning in London this month.
This follows NBTC's roundtable on Wednesday in which the TV Pool of Thailand (ThaiTV3, TV5, Channel7 and Modernine TV) reported that they can broadcast this sports event only via terrestrial TV signal due to copyright restriction.
Supinya Klangnarong, the NBTC’s commissioner in the subcommittee for consumer protection, hoped that the NBTC’s board meeting on Monday could resolve this problem.
She added that the NBTC would also consider prescribing rules and regulations regarding minimum standard for set-top boxes that must be equipped with a conditioned access system. – The Nation
