Jaymart buoyant about growth this year

Major handset retailer Jaymart is upbeat about its growth prospects this year because of several positive factors.

Chief executive officer Adisak Sukumvitaya said Jaymart expected at least 25-per-cent revenue growth this year, up from last year’s earnings of Bt5.6 billion.

Part of the revenue should come from the 45 new retail outlets it plans to open this year across the nation, in addition to its existing 205 shops, he added.

He explained that since Jaymart carried a larger variety of mobile-phone models, its sales target for this year was at least 1.2 million devices, up from about 1 million units last year.

Total handset sales in Thailand are expected to be between 15 million and 17 million units this year.

Adisak said the demand for mobile devices in the provinces had increased and should account for more than 55 per cent of total sales in Thailand this year, up from about 50 per cent at present.

Meanwhile, Jaymart and its partners jointly kicked off its second annual Bangkok Mobile Show 2012 at the Central Plaza Lat Phrao shopping mall yesterday. The event runs until Wednesday.

The first such expo for this year was held last month at Seacon Square and achieved about Bt50.5 million in sales. Jaymart holds this mobile show three times a year.
