Successful roadshows in US, Canada and Japan

Over 120 meetings were arranged for 9 Thai listed companies and foreign investors, during the SET-organised roadshows to San Francisco, Toronto and Tokyo.

The roadshows, organised by Stock Exchange of Thailand and Daiwa Securities during July 29 and August 3, were aimed to woo new institutional investors to the Thai market. Most of the investors paid attention to the recovery after last year's floods, corporate earnings of Thai companies and regional economic integration, said Chanitr Charnchainarong, executive vice president, Issuer & Listing Division of the Stock Exchange of Thailand. Representatives of about 70 funds attended the roadshows.
PTT Plc's chief financial officer Surong Bulakul, who joined the mission, said investors in Canada in particular showed immense interest in the energy firm, as they rarely have direct information from the Thai market. "We exchanged opinions and business direction in the meetings, which raised their confidence in the potential of the company and the entire Thai economy. This is a good investment sign for the Thai stock market," he said.
Aside from PTT, joining the trip were Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Plc, Minor International Plc, Indorama Ventures Plc, Big C Supercentre Plc, GMM Grammy Plc, Thai Union Frozen Products Plc, Khon Kaen Sugar Plc and Bangkok Bank.
