Thai Edible Oil boosts output

Thai Edible Oil will expand its production capacity for King Rice Bran Oil next year to about 500,000 tonnes per year by opening a Bt1.5-billion factory in Saraburi.

Located on a 300-rai plot in Si Kiew district, the plant will have production capacity of about 200,00 tonnes per year.
The company’s facility in Ayutthaya has almost reached its full capacity of about 300,000 tonnes per year.
Pravit Santiwattana, executive director, said yesterday that the Saraburi facility would support the company’s expansion into neighbouring countries, such as Myanmar and Cambodia, to cash in on the Asean Economic Community in 2015.
Marking its 35th anniversary as the market leader of rice bran oil in Thailand as well as the world, Thai Edible Oil Group projects total sales of Bt6 billion this year.
Sales are evenly split among refined rice bran oil, crude rice bran oil and de-fatted rice bran.
However, refined rice bran oil shows the most satisfactory growth of 25 per cent per year in the past five years.
“With strong expertise in producing rice bran oil and focusing on research and development, Thai Edible Oil has continuously gained accomplishments in creating innovative rice bran oil products. We have also successfully gained popularity among health-conscious consumers both domestically and internationally,” he said.
This year, the company forecasts sales of refined rice bran oil to increase 10 per cent to Bt2 billion, with half of sales in the domestic market and the other half in the export market.
