Gold houses push for FX futures trading license

Six gold shop-linked futures brokerage houses expect to win the licenses to trade foreign exchange futures within next year, Gold Traders Association chairman Jitti Tangsithpakdi.

"The Bank of Thailand told us that the Finance Ministry is now considering this, and the approval should be announced in 3 or 3 months and a half," said Jitti who led the houses in a meeting with the central bank yesterday.
"They believe that the licenses should be awarded in 2013," he said.
At present, futures brokerage houses set up by gold shops are barred from FX futures trading. Their license covers the trading of silver, gold and oil futures.
