2 IBM groups set to meet new demands

IBM (Thailand) is expanding two software groups to cater to new demands in computing. "The firm also expects to reach business growth in double digits" this year, Jadesada Kraisingkorn, country manager of the software group, said yesterday.

IBM Software Solutions Group provides business analytics, collaboration solutions and industry solutions to support businesses, while IBM Software Middleware Group provides WebSphere, information management, Ra-tional, Tivoli and security solutions, she said.
The software business will |be offered on the Pure System appliance box with a cognitive system to allocate resources automatically.
IBM will provide solutions to support new target customers called CXO or chief “X” officer, where “X” can be marketing, financial or some other designation.
“IBM Software formerly focused on the Middleware Group. With the new direction, which follows IBM headquarters, it will also focus on the Software Solutions Group, since IBM sees the software business as also an important market to boost the profits of its business as a whole,” Jadesada said.
Software solutions will support customers in four areas – cloud computing, business analytics, Smarter Planet solutions and mobility solutions. Major customers include KCS, Big C and True Corporation.
IBM is working with its business partners to expand into the Laotian market.
“Vendors have also adjusted their business and created new initiatives to create new opportunities in the market,” she said.
