'No rise' in Ft rate

Despite a skyrocketing increase in electricity usage, especially during the summer season, the Energy Regulatory Commission does not intend to increase the fuel adjustment tariff (Ft), given the relative stability of energy prices.

“I have been very concerned about the high use of electricity during this summer season. Usage has been at a record high since the end of March … and is expected to achieve a peak daily level of 27,000 megawatts this year,” ERC chairman Direk Lavansiri said yesterday.
“As a result, we are greatly concerned about Myanmar’s stoppage of natural-gas delivery from April 5-14, which will cause an electricity shortage.”
