During his discussion with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra at the Government House on Thursday, Yoshihisa Kainuma, president and CEO of Minibea, said that the rapid baht appreciation against US dollar could affect trade and investment.
If possible, the government's signal for a weaker baht would help, he said.
Meanwhile, the government is also urged to ensure labour sufficiency. He also proposed the supply of Minibea's engine products for Thai Airways International.
Yingluck said that the Bank of Thailand is now entirely responsible for the foreign exchange movement. However, she promised that there will be measures to smooth business operations.
Present in Thailand for over 30 years, the company has launched several expansion projects like the Bt6.9 billion ball-bearing plant in Bang Pa-in. Inundated in 2011, Minibea has invested Bt100 million to erect the flood wall and an electricity sub-station.
