FTI chairman Payungsak Chartsutipol said the organisation would forge closer cooperation with Sipa to encourage members of the federation to adopt more information technology in their business operations.
The move is aimed at reducing logistics costs and increasing business efficiency.
Initially, about 100 of business-matching efforts will be promoted.
The project will be organised in major industrial provinces, including Chiang Mai, Chon Buri, Khon Kaen and Songkhla. Experts in software will be provided to give consultation for industrial enterprises.
According to FTI figures, logistics costs for Thai companies are quite high compared with those in developed nations. Logistics account for 15-17 per cent of the Kingdom’s gross domestic product, while in developed countries the proportion is 8-9 per cent.
Sipa director Trirat Chatkeaw said the cooperative project should be completed by September.
The project is aimed not only at facilitating growth of software businesses, but also increasing efficiency for industrial enterprises. Industrial enterprises will be able to reduce their costs by adopting technology while facing many negative factors such as a stronger baht and higher wages.
