Thanan-ek Warncharm, managing director of HB Inter-Realty Management (HBIRM), and former head of asset management for Thailand, said the company entered a joint venture with Henry Butcher Malaysia in 2010 to expand its business in the Asean region. However, differences in management style, organisation culture, and business objectives became apparent and eventually led to mutually agreed termina-tion of the joint venture this month.
Under the original name of IRM, the company is confident of being able to pursue aggressive marketing strategies to expand beyond the local borders even without a foreign business alliance under the challenges of the Asean Economic Community business environment, Thanan-ek added.
The firm has revised its operating and marketing strategies to support the influx of foreign manpower and consumers under the AEC, which will boost the demand for office buildings, condominiums and residential facilities.
It has prepared its personnel for the AEC’s 2015 implementation in terms of foreign-language readiness and has hired some staff from Asean nations to provide services to foreign clients.
Despite the intense competition, most operators in the building/communities management sector have developed their potential for the AEC, he said. Hence Thai business operators in this sector are expected to be competitive in the Asean region.
