Thirachai urges new rules

Former Finance Minister Thirachai Phuvanatnaranubala said Thailand needs a new rule to address three key issues - populist policies, corruption suppression and civil servants' protection.
On his Facebook page, such is necessary to stop Thailand from falling towards a disaster.
Regarding populist policies, he said political parties tend to introduce more of such policies in the future, which would lead to excessive public debt.
On corruption, the new rule is necessary as some business operators said that "tea money" is now as high as 40 per cent of project value.
On civil servants' protection, he said this would ensure that the officials would dare to challenge politicians.
He invites academics to help devise measures to improve the rules and promises to present more of his ideas in the next five days.
