Krung Thai Bank’s consolidated net profit in the second quarter declined to Bt6.43 billion from Bt7.44 billion in the same period last year, resulting in net earnings for the first half increasing by 8.86 per cent to Bt14.98 billion.
The lower year-on-year net profit at the country’s second-largest bank by assets came from additional loan-loss provisioning of Bt2.5 billion, made in accordance with prudent banking practice to prepare for possible future economic uncertainty, KTB said.
ReneSola to provide PV
ReneSola, a leading technology provider of solar photovoltaic (PV) products, yesterday announced it had agreed to provide 63 megawatts of PV modules to Energy Absolute, a leader in the research, development and production of alternative energies in Thailand.
China-headquartered ReneSola will deliver 63MW of its Virtus II PV modules to Energy Absolute between August and October as part of a project in Nakhon Sawan.
The project is one of a number of large-scale solar contracts for ReneSola in Southeast Asia.
Xianshou Li, ReneSola’s chief executive officer, said: “We have been a leading provider of PV products in Southeast Asia since last year. This contract demonstrates to our customers that our high-efficiency Virtus modules not only meet the requirements of traditional European and American markets, but also are suited for the high temperatures and tropical conditions of Southeast Asia.
“As we look ahead, we hope to generate additional business in the emerging solar markets of Southeast Asia.”
Oishi adds to green-tea range with 380-ml bottle for Bt15
Oishi Group is spicing up competition in the ready-to-drink green-tea market with the launch of a slimline 380-millilitre bottle for Bt15.
Executive vice president Aniruth Mahathorn said the company would be more proactive over the remainder of the year, emphasising digital marketing activities to communicate more closely with key target consumers, especially teenagers and working people.
“We are expanding our market segment with the launch of the new 380-ml bottle at a price of Bt15, as we have seen a gap between the 500-ml bottle, which is priced at Bt20, and Oishi’s UHT pack, which is priced at Bt10.
“The 380-ml bottle will allow consumers to make easier purchasing decisions and encourage them to more frequently drink Oishi green tea, from currently one bottle a day to between two and three bottles,” he said.
