Her sudden death is a big loss to the family and the business circle.
Porntip started her career when she was only 17. Then, she started as a secretary to her father, a renowed businessman Thaworn Pornprapa who built leading automobile company Siam Motor Group from scratch. As his group diversified into many other businesses such as tourism, music, finance and insurance, Porntip had observed it and built up her capacity.
The turning point came when she married Kasem Narongdej in 1969. As a wedding gift, Thaworn awarded the couple Siam Yamaha Company. Under her guidance, the company won the rights to become the first Yamaha motorcycle manufacturer outside Japan. Later, with help from her husband, she formed KPN Group, acting as president and CEO. The group has diverse business from manufacturing, real estate to music academy.
Now, the business has been under guidance of their three sons - Krit, Nop and Korn.
The funeral service will take place at her residence in Soi Sukhumvit 49 for 7 days from October 17, before her body will be transferred to the family's burial site in Chon Buri. Guests are kindly asked to bring no wreath.
