Rumour hits AOT

Airports of Thailand on Tuesday denied the rumour that it would invest in government bonds, issued to clear the rice-pledging debt.

In a statement, AOT insisted that all investment would be carried out in line with good governance principles, not to cause any significant impacts on the company's operations and finances.
AOT, which operates six international airports, showed the net profit of Bt6.5 billion in 2012 and Bt15.5 billion in 2013. Each month, it is handling excess cashflow worth about Bt4-Bt5 billion, by investing the sum in financial tools.
The statement was issued after a social media rumour that it would invest Bt20-Bt40 billion in a government scheme.
In the morning, some AOT employees also wore black in their protest accordingly to the rumour.
Several institutions are now victims of social media attacks, as the government is struggling to raise Bt130 billion for rice farmers.
