After the Board of Directors' meeting yesterday, he said there is no positive sign and it is likely that the airline's operating results would not recover.
The board attributed the Bt2.6 billion loss in the first quarter to 2 factors: the declining number of passengers due to political turbulences; and the 2 per cent increase in jet fuel consumption due to the existence of some old aircraft.
In the first quarter, the cabin factor averaged at 70.1 per cent, compared to 79.8 per cent in the same period last year. The number of passengers also dropped, led by the 27.1 per cent slump in the number of Chinese travellers. The number of Japanese and Korean travellers also dropped by 25.2 per cent and 12.9 per cent, respectively.
