SET schedules more roadshows abroad

The Stock Exchange of Thailand says it will showcase the attractiveness and strength of the Thai capital market and the economy among foreign institutional investors in roadshows in the United States, Malaysia and Singapore in October and November, bringi

SET president Kesara Manchusree said that with the clear and solid economic stimulus measures announced by the new military regime, investors’ confidence had risen. Foreign investors became net buyers for three months in a row from July to September, while investment and business moods were back to normal. As such, the SET will hold roadshows in the United States, Malaysia and Singapore during the last quarter of the year to showcase the private sector’s strength and business expansions resulting from the country’s economic growth.
“Investors were mainly interested in the country’s economic direction, as seen from the previous inbound and outbound roadshows,” she said. “They need insights of the government’s economic measures in short-, medium- and long-term plans.
“It was significant that most Thai firms joining the roadshows this year were medium-sized companies, in line with the SET’s strategic plan aiming to boost visibility of these companies. The companies also took the opportunity to present to investors their business plans and advantages gained from the government’s policy.”
For the upcoming events, the SET will join forces with partners to approach foreign investors that currently hold Thai stocks in their portfolios and require situation updates on which to base further investment decisions.
From October 27-30, the SET together with KT Zmico Securities Co and Auerbach Grayson and Co will hold “Thailand – Finding Alpha inside a Democratic Evolution” in the US cities of New York and San Francisco. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, deputy director of the Fiscal Policy Office, and 10 top executives of Thai companies will participate.
From November 19-21, the SET together with Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Phatra Securities will hold a “Thai Corporate Forum” in Singapore and Malaysia with 10 medium-cap companies presenting their business potential in one-on-one and group meetings.
