First independent power plant ceases operation
The Rayong Power Plant, Thailand's first independent power plant, has stopped operations since December 7.
Operated by Electricity Generating Plc, a listed power producer which is 25.41 per cent owned by Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat), the plant had the capacity of 1,232 megawatts.
Egco said in a statement that the operations stopped following the expiration of the power purchase agreement with Egat.
The power plant commenced operations on December 7, 1994.
