This is part of True Corpora-tion’s strategy to reap Bt10.5 billion in annual advertising revenue within three years from TrueVisions and affiliates such as Thai News Network, the operator of digital news station TNN24, and True4U, a digital variety channel.
Birathon Kasemsri Na Ayudhaya, head of commercial and business development for TrueVisions, said his company had also prepared a series of marketing campaigns and new products to attract more customers this year.
The new True Digital HD set-top box aims to offer high-quality content without requiring monthly fees. The Bt1,690 box is compatible with both Ku-band and C-band satellite dishes. Customers can access more than 200 channels including 27 terrestrial-based digital channels and eight high-definition channels from TrueVisions.
"We want to reduce the entry barrier for new customers with an affordable price and ease of use," Birathorn Birathon said.
"TrueVisions’ strength is its content, and we are confident that many viewers are looking for more than digital TV channels," he added.
Buyers of the True Digital HD box will be able to enjoy special channels from three TrueVisions packages, including sports content, entertainment programmes, and movies, for six consecutive months. When registered with a True Move H number, viewers can enjoy three additional channels from TrueVisions for 12 months for free, and receive other privileges.
Apart from the free channels bundled with the box, customers can pay for extra TrueVisions monthly packages offering sports, entertainment variety shows, and movies.
Currently, TrueVisions has about 3 million customers including subscribers and free viewers.
