Egat's investment raised to Bt42 bn

Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand is investing a total of Bt42 billion this year, an increase of Bt3 billion from the previous estimate.

Egat Governor Soonchai Kumnoonsate said that several projects must be accelerated, like a new power grid. Meanwhile, Egat also plans to rebuild two power plants in Bangkok, to replace the decommissioned ones.
Of total, Bt10 billion will come from an infrastructure fund, which aims to raise a total of Bt20 billion.
"The Cabinet on December 2, 2014 approved the infrastructure fund project, which will be backed up by revenue from North Bangkok Power Plant. After the Finance Ministry wins the Cabinet's approval for a detailed plan, we will seek approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission. The fund should be offered to investors around April," he said.
