Epson (Thailand) has collaborated with Chanapatana International Design Institute (CIDI) and Nexttech Screen Supply (NTS) to set up the Epson F-Academy to help designers and small and medium-sized enterprises enter the textile and garment industries.

Yunyong Muneemongkoltorn, general manager of Epson (Thailand), said the academy was an integrated learning centre that would allow designers, entrepreneurs and owners of fashion brands to utilise digital printing systems in their textile businesses.

Palawat Nakayodhin, commercial and industrial sales manager at Epson (Thailand), said the academy would also provide training on how to move into digital textile printing, which would give them more ways to add value to their products. Moreover, the participants will get the opportunity to turn their designs into real products for trial sales at the Platinum Centre and Bobae Market next month.

Sittiphat Thanasarasin, chairman of the operations committee at CIDI, said the Epson F-Academy was a one-year project. The institute expects that it will be able to help designers bring their quality up to international standards while helping textile entrepreneurs utilise information technology and transfer knowledge to SMEs. It will also help SMEs and designers develop unique textile designs.

NTS executive Poosit Chai-ngam said that as the distributor of Epson’s direct-to-garment printers, the firm would advise consumers about such products. It will also provide seminars and workshops for designers, SMEs and entrepreneurs who participate in the project.
