Kunming-Bangkok-Map Ta Phut rail connection to complete in 2020

Transport Minister Prajin Juntong expected the rail connection in the Kunming-Bangkok-Map Ta Phut route to be completed within 2020.
Speaking after a meeting with Bounchanh Sinthavong, the minister of Laos' Public Works and Transport Ministry, he said Laos would start the construction of the railroad linking its border with China and Vientiane later this year.
Thailand also planned to start the double-track rail project linking the northeastern part of the country with Map Ta Phut in October.
Both sides also discussed the planned construction of the new friendship bridge. They plan to open the bridge after the rail connection is completed, said Prajin.
