This year’s target is for sales to grow by 20 per cent to Bt2.3 billion.
The group’s president in Thailand, Yang Xiaolin, said Haier had established customers’ confidence in its brand and developed its products to win the hearts of consumers worldwide. For six years in a row, the China-based multinational has been the world’s largest manufacturer of home appliances in terms of market share.
In Thailand, competition in the electrical-appliance market is high, but it expanded in the first half of this year.
Haier posted sales in the first six months of this year of Bt1.27 billion, a 14.7-per-cent increase from Bt1.1 billion in the same period of 2014. Because of Thailand’s hot climate, sales of air-conditioning products enjoyed high growth of 110.4 per cent in both the consumer and commercial markets.
This year, the 13th of Haier’s operations in Thailand, will see a new business model, new innovations and new lines of home appliances because the market still has a lot of room to grow with the high purchasing power of consumers.
New models include the two-door "Dynamic Inverter" refrigerator that can reduce energy consumption by 39 per cent and provide more cooling power. Equipped with tower LEDs (light-emitting diodes) for bright lighting inside, the refrigerator comes in four colours and four sizes ranging from 8.6 to 11.9 cubic feet (244-337 litres).
Yang said Thailand was strategically significant to Haier, which was the reason behind the establishment of its regional air-conditioning training centre in Kabin Buri district, Prachin Buri province, to serve all Asean countries.
