Another accolade for Chartsiri
Chartsiri Sophonpanich, president of Bangkok Bank, is well known for his commitment to work. He is usually among the first to arrive at the office each day and among the last to leave.
And while he is at work, it is widely known that every executive of the bank has to be prepared for meetings. They can be called in at any time, even after the clock strikes 9pm.
Executives reluctantly said that to journalists in reference to why they sometimes decline interview requests at the last minute.
However, the bank’s shareholders are bound to be please with the big boss’s work. Despite fierce competition, Bangkok Bank has remained at the forefront in the Thai banking industry.
The latest accolade came when it was named the World Branding Forum’s Brand of the Year 2015-2016 (banking category). The non-profit organisation judged companies based on three criteria: brand valuation, consumer market research and public online voting, with more than 65,000 consumers from around the world voting for their favourite brands.
Chartsiri was also recently awarded an honorary doctorate degree in business administration by Rangsit University.
How could Chartsiri, the father of five, focus so much at work with problems at home? Well, judging by his wife Nintira’s big smile when he received the honorary degree, it seems work and home life are well balanced.
