Foreign ambassadors and investors will be invited to inspect one of the country’s special economic zones (SEZs) and join an investment symposium.
Duangporn Rodphaya, director-general of the Foreign Trade Department, said the government would hold an open house on the SEZs on February 29 at Siam Paragon Hall. The event aims to increase understanding among ambassadors and foreign investors about the government’s policies and privileges available to those investing in the 10 SEZs in 10 border provinces.
The ambassadors and investors will be invited to visit an SEZ in Sa Kaew province on March 1 and 2.
The government has also provided brochures in English, Chinese and Japanese with information about each SEZ.
The 10 SEZs are in Tak, Sa Kaew, Mukdahan, Songkhla, Trat, Nong Khai, Narathiwat, Chiang Rai, Nakhon Phanom and Kanchanaburi. Foreign investment in 23 industries will be supported in the SEZs, focusing on high-technology and innovation in such fields as agriculture and agricultural equipment, ores, ceramics, steel products, machinery, transport equipment, electronics and electrical appliances, chemical products, plastics, printing, and public services.
