NOW26 sees steep rise in viewership last month

Nielsen (Thailand)’s survey of digital television viewers in April shows NOW26, one of NMG’s digital TV channels, continuing to attract more viewers.
NOW26’s viewership ranking per minute has also climbed for the sixth month according to Nielsen’s nationwide overall TV audience survey.
NOW26’s viewership rating rose from 13th in March to 11th in April, with an average TV viewer rating of 0.171.
NOW26 has the highest audience base expansion of all digital TV stations, up 35 per cent in April. “NOW26 will continue to be selective in content that will capture viewers’ interests – contemporary trends, lifestyles and preferences, especially excellent documentaries on various topics that are rarely seen on other free TV channels.
“NOW26 has allocated up to six hours a day for documentaries.
“The scheduling of documentaries in prime-time TV viewing hours reflects NOW26’s confidence in the quality of the documentaries.
“NOW26 believes this is what local viewers want, judging from the current growth of documentary viewers we see via online social media channels,” she said.
“NOW26 will continue to strive in expanding the variety of our offerings to the audience, especially in sporting events and exciting lifestyle/adventure programmes.
“By mid-2016, NOW26 will be ready to offer much new, interesting content,” she said.
NOW26 last month joined the Volleyball Association of Thailand to host the NOW26 volleyball academy league for professional volleyball clubs nationwide.
The matches were televised live, including recordings of matches almost daily, which was well received by sports enthusiasts.
This month and in June, the station will continue providing sports event programming for viewers.
Sport top attraction
“Sports continue to capture the interest of viewers, with more viewers, not just for major sporting events like the Olympics, but also at regional levels.
“Since no other digital TV station provides a wide variety of sporting events, NOW26 will continue to provide both local and foreign sporting content to meet increasing interest in sports among Thai youths today and to indirectly contribute towards their development in various sports,” she said.
As for NOW26’s strategy for the second half of this year, the management will emphasise on providing “excellent documentaries, popular sporting events, interesting variety shows and timely penetrating news” to cater to the varied viewer segments nationwide”, she said.
