The Central Administrative Court has ruled in favour of Thai TV Co by granting a temporary injunction to protect the company from seizure of remaining bank guarantees by the broadcasting regulator after its two digital television licences were revoked.
Under the injunction issued on December 6, Bangkok Bank, the guarantor for Thai TV Co, has no obligation to take responsibility for the three remaining unpaid instalments of upfront licence fees to the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission until a further verdict by the court.
Formerly led by gossip guru Pantipa “Sister Tim” Sakulchai, Thai TV Co operated Thai TV, a news channel and Loca, a family channel, under the NBTC’s licence-based regime.
Natee Sukonrat, chairman of the NBTC’s broadcasting committee, said the panel would soon submit a petition to the court regarding this case.
