SCG confident of hitting 1-3 per cent growth target

SIAM CEMENT GROUP’S Cement-Building Materials unit plans to grow its business by up to 3 per cent this year, despite the stagnant real-estate and home-building markets.

“When our strategy for innovative products, services and distribution channels is combined with customer-oriented marketing activities, we are confident that our business will grow by 1-3 per cent this year,” Nithi Pattarachoke, vice president for the domestic market at the unit, said yesterday.
The real-estate and home-building industries, however, may gain from three trends.
The government’s transport infrastructure investments have been spurring urban expansion with many housing and condominium projects springing up.
Many consumers, particularly those earning less than Bt50,000 a month, have already freed themselves from the repayment burdens under the first-car scheme since late last year.
And prices for crops are continuing their uptrend, including for rubber, palm and sugarcane, which is pumping up the purchasing power of consumers.
“The growth will be in line with the market trend as the country has been enjoying the three aforementioned positive factors,” he said.
The unit plans to launch marketing campaigns throughout the year, targeting all groups of potential customers, including new homeowners and those wishing to renovate their old houses.
The first campaign – SCG Family Festival-Greater Spending-Greater Value for Money PLUS Chance to Win Free Trips – is now going on to make it easier for homeowners to shop.
SCG has heavily emphasised research and innovation to create HVA products.
The goal is to respond to customers’ lifestyle, social and environmental needs.
The firm is introducing performance-based home construction to address the specific needs of consumers in three core areas.
Specialised in making lives comfortable, the “Living Comfort Performance” solution prevents heat from entering a house, improves ventilation inside and efficiently controls noise and moisture levels at home.
The “Care Performance” solution seeks to ensure that all family members, regardless of their stages of life and other differences, can live happily, healthily, safely and conveniently under the same roof.
The “ECO Saving Performance” solution offers energy-saving systems for homes.
The grand launch of these home solutions will take place during the Architect 2017 Expo, which will run from May 2-7 at Impact Muang Thong Thani.
SCG operates 41 SCG Home Solution centres to offer a comprehensive range of quality solutions to its customers.
It has also made inroads into the e-commerce scene by integrating an online store with www.scgshoppingexperience.com.
The new online store offers more than 2,500 SKUs with the most popular categories being SCG Landscape products and SCG Eldercare Solutions.
