The project aims to strengthen the economy from the community level to keep the nation firmly on the path of the 20-year Thailand 4.0 strategy.
The four ministries are Digital Economy and Society, Agriculture, Commerce and Education.
Lars Norling, chief executive officer of Total Access Communication Plc, doing business as DTAC, said the project is part of the government’s urgent plan to promote the use of digital technology.
The technology utilisation aims at strengthening the grassroots economy, as it will help enhance community incomes.
The project will be launched nationwide next month through community digital centres and Agricultural Learning Centre (ALC) branches.
The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society will support the deployment of effective digital infrastructure to all tambon (subdistricts).
The Agriculture Ministry will be responsible for promoting the development of agricultural products in each community as well as introducing innovations for production sustainability.
The Commerce Ministry is in charge of promotion of e-commerce while the Education Ministry will play a role in raising the level of life-long learning of digital technology.
DTAC will integrate the missions of the four ministries and promote wireless broadband enhancement so that the information and work could be linked in a holistic way.
It will also encourage farmer groups, cooperatives, SME operators, start-ups and community enterprises in each community to form e-commerce operator groups.
Then the operators can use digital marketing to move to complete online trading through the Commerce Ministry’s e-market and other established online channels.
The success of the public-private partnership’s “Lifelong learning with digital technology” project last year prompted DTAC to expand the target group from 400,000 to a million people.
The collaboration between DTAC and the four ministries will help strengthen the economy at its foundation as it increases opportunities for communities to earn more income from e-commerce, and to expand the market to cities via digital technology.
This is a main goal under the government’s Digital Development for economy and society.
DTAC will have training programmes with all four ministries especially coordination with 882 ALCs and 7,424 community digital centres nationwide.
“DTAC is committed to expand public and private partnerships in line of the digital policy for the economy and society to reach the goal of Thailand 4.0 to secure sustainable security and prosperity,” he said.
