JET AIRWAYS NAMED INDIA’S BEST AIRLINE

Jet Airways says it has been named “India’s Best Airline” in TripAdvisor’s first annual Travellers’ Choice awards for airlines.
The winners were based on airline reviews submitted on flights from February 2016 to February 2017.
TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site, provides information and reviews that are used by millions of travellers worldwide while planning their itineraries and choosing between destinations and accommodation.
The website this year introduced the airline category to its Travellers’ Choice awards. The winners were judged using an algorithm that considers the quantity and quality of airline reviews and ratings submitted by travellers worldwide over a 12-month period. The Travellers’ Choice award winners are recognised for their outstanding service, quality and value proposition offered to their guests.
“We are extremely pleased to have won ‘India’s Best Airline’ in TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice awards for 2017,” said Jayaraj Shanmugam, chief commercial officer of Jet Airways. “The recognition is a testimony of Jet Airways’ ‘guest first’ service philosophy to provide guests with the joy of flying via greater connectivity, choice, convenience and comfort.
“What makes this recognition extra-special is that it is based entirely on guest experience and feedback and validates our efforts to heighten our brand experience. We will continue to work harder to set new product and service benchmarks to delight all those who fly with us.”
Nikhil Ganju, country manager for TripAdvisor India, said: “After the launch of TripAdvisor airline reviews last year, we are very excited to announce the inaugural Travellers’ Choice Awards for Airlines.
“The airline industry in India is at an interesting juncture with increasing numbers of Indian travellers taking to flying and newer airlines foraying into the market. We are confident that these awards will not only help the Indian travellers make more informed air-travel decisions but also make the airlines more cognizant of the higher standards of services expected from them.”

NEW VIETJET ROUTE

Vietnamese budget airline VietJet is poised to launch direct flights between Bangkok and Hualien, Taiwan, from June.
The route’s maiden flight will launch on June 24, with 14 total flights scheduled until August 24 – an average of one flight every five days.
The airline’s announcement follows a route opening between Hong Kong and Hualien late last year, part of local-government efforts to promote the eastern county as a tourism transportation hub outside the Taiwanese centres of Taoyuan and Taipei.
According to Hualien legislator Hsiao Bi-khim, the routes give the local tourism industry a boost for certain “political reasons”, and allow the industry to ween its dependence from mainland Chinese tourists in favour of quality tours geared towards those who want a more in-depth experience with the eastern county known for its beautiful beaches and other natural wonders. – The China Post
