Vietnam to lift restrictions on foreign investment

Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc vowed on Monday to lift restrictions on services, telecommunications, financing and banking to facilitate foreign investment.

Addressing the Vietnam-Netherlands Business Forum in The Hague, Phuc told 450 participating enterprises, including nearly 300 from the host country, “You can become strategic shareholders in many Vietnamese state-owned enterprises that are about to sell shares on the market.”
He noted that Vietnam had signed 12 free-trade agreements and will soon have one with the European Union.
He added that the country climbed to 82nd position in the World Bank’s Doing Business 2017 report from 91st last year, and that the World Economic Forum ranked Vietnam 60th out of 138 countries in terms of global competitiveness.
