Mongkol Pruekwatana, director-general of the Industrial Works Department, said factory registrations rose last month as operators and investors gained confidence in the government’s policy.
The “country’s economic situation improved and most operators usually make more investment in the latter half,” he said.
For the first seven months of this year, the food industry led the expansion with 412 more factories and Bt30.04 billion investment, followed by the metal product industry with 262 more factories and Bt15.69 billion investment and the non-metal industry with 227 more factories and Bt8.69 billion investment.
In the January 1 - July 17 period, factories with newly-issued licences for establishment and expansion totalled 2,883 with investment of Bt259.32 billion.
