“We will help SMEs to improve their productivity and efficiency,” said Salinee Wangtal, director-general of OSMEP.
“We also provide knowledge and training to help them develop packaging and marketing tools to help them leverage revenue from e-commerce or the online channel.”
As part of the Bt150 million project, OSMEP will sign agreements with nine e-marketplaces to help SMEs go online.
OSMEP has opened www.smesgoonline.com. There are now about 32,000 SMEs distributing their products online and over 75,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs) are available.
The project aims to raise those figures to about 40,000 SMEs and 100,000 SKUs by the end of this month.
OSMEP will continue to promote e-commerce opportunities for SMEs next year with a Bt150-million budget.
Surangkana Wayuparb, chief executive of ETDA, said www.smesgoonline.com is generating sales of about Bt20 million.
By helping SMEs with branding and distributing their products to the cyber market, sales are expected to increase to Bt200 million.
The cooperation between the agencies will also drive the digital economy and build a pool of tech-savvy entrepreneurs in the country.
The nine e-marketplaces and e-commerce associations are Shopee, Tarad.com, PCHome, Lazada, 11Street, Lnwshop, Weloveshopping, the Federation Thai SME, and the Thai e-Commerce Association.
A campaign will be launched to motivate local SMEs to distribute their products via those e-marketplaces to reach customers in both domestic and international markets.
