Port director Komol Sribangplinoi said the new facility will help raise the quality of services in cargo and container deliveries with Laem Chabang Port. It will also connect to ports in the Chao Phraya River basin as well as domestic and overseas coastal ports.
Improvements to the 250-metre Terminal 2 saw the installation of two rail-mounted gantry cranes capable of lifting 40 tonnes of containers and serving two ships.
“This will help cater to the increasing number of containers and ships coming in, and allow us to manage the ports effectively while reducing waiting periods,” Komol said.
The project costs Bt452 million, and is able to serve 4,000 vessels per year.
