Alert system for stocks

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) will soon alert investors to listed companies deemed to carry financial risks. Under a mechanism to be introduced on July 2, the exchange will assign an alert indicated by a Caution (C) sign against the names of companies considered to be under pressure. This action will require a response from such companies.

SET president Kesara Manchusree yesterday said: “The posting of the ‘C’ sign will warn investors about the quality of listed companies and those firms will be required to explain to investors their solutions within 15 days of the SET posting.”
Among the triggers for the posting of a “C” alert are a significant drop in a company’s earnings.
