Gov't should explain job switch: Abhisit

The government is obligated to clarify its handling of a transfer of national police chief General Wichean Potephosree, Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Friday.

"The transfer of Wichean is anticipated but it impacts on the top job at the National Security Council," he said.

Abhisit said the government owed the public an explanation on the reassignment of NSC secretary general Tawin Pleansri, following his replacement by Wichean.

He said the transfer involving Wichean and Tawin had to be reviewed and approved by the Cabinet.
