Two National Multimedia Group reporters did not take money from a politcal party representative, as suggested in a controversial email recently declassified, and the group is excellently cooperative with an internal investigation into the issue, The National Press Council of Thailand said in a statement Wednesday.
The scrutiny did not find that the two unidentified reporters receive money, allegedly tea money in exchange for favour coverage, from the unnamed political party. The email, dated July 5 and released by an anonymous source, contained ambigous messages suggesting a number of reporters from various members of media were given special treats paid by a person representing this party.
The NPCT also thanks "members who are strictly imposing professional conducts on their journalist employees" and for "their cooperation in enforcing codes of ethics" in order to "ensure high standards" and "command longlasting respect from the public, from here on, to evermore."
