Two killed in Chiang Mai landslide

A landslide hit a village in Chiang Mai early Wednesday, killing two victims and leaving three others missing.

The disaster took place at about 1am at Ban Mueang Kai in Mae Taeng district.
“All the five victims are from one same family,” Tambon Mueang Kai Administrative Organisation chairman Duangkham Wutti said.
Ban Mueang Kai was also left without electricity and linebased telephone services, after the landslide uprooted several electricity poles. At least four houses were completely destroyed.
“Rehabilitation efforts are hardly progressing in the face of continued rain,” Duangkham said.
