The ruling Pheu Thai Party is likely to push for amendment of the Defence Ministry Act to give the defence minister more power in the annual reshuffles of senior armed forces commanders, a key member of the party's legal team said Friday.
Pheu Thai MP Pirapan Palusuk said that the law, drafted by the post-coup government of General Surayud Chulanont, limited the defence minister’s powers although he was in fact should be considered the top leader of the armed forces.
