The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down&nbsp;207 points, or 1.74 per cent&nbsp;at 11,706.62.&nbsp; The S&amp;P 500 dropped&nbsp;25.14 points, or 2 per cent&nbsp;at 1,229.05. All 10 S&amp;P sectors finished firmly in the red, led by financials and materials.
