13-year-old boy rescued from Turkish quake rubble

Istanbul - A 13-year-old boy was pulled early Friday from rubble nearly 108 hours after an earthquake struck eastern Turkey and buried him in an apartment block, a news report said.

The boy was injured and taken to hospital, the Anadolou news agency reported.
Hours earlier, two men, 18 and 19, were also pulled alive from wreckage in Ercis, a city in Van province hit hard by Sunday's magnitude-7.2 quake, television reports said.
Both young men suffered from dehydration and were taken to hospital.
The death toll rose to 550 in the quake, which injured about 2,300 people, Anadolou said late Thursday, citing government officials.
Sleet worsened conditions for survivors, some of whom were waiting for tents to arrive so they would have shelter after the quake destroyed nearly 2,300 houses in the primarily Kurdish region that borders Iran.//DPA
