Apple appoints successor to Steve Jobs

San Francisco - Apple on Tuesday appointed biotech executive Arthur Levinson as the non-executive chairman of the board, taking over the last role held by Steve Jobs before his death in early October. Apple also announced that Bob Iger, President and Chie

 

"I am honoured to be named chairman of Apple's board and welcome Bob to our team," said Levinson, the chairman of Genentech, who has served on the Apple board since 2000. "Apple is always focused on out-innovating itself through the delivery of truly innovative products that simplify and improve our lives, and that is something I am very proud to be a part of." 
Iger also has long-standing ties with Apple and formed a close relationship with Jobs that led to Disney's purchase of Jobs' animated film studio Pixar in 2006.//DPA
