Washington - Moviegoers kept The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 atop the North American box-office chart for a third straight weekend, bringing in 16.9 million dollars in ticket sales, according to preliminary studio estimates.

The latest film in the series based on Stephenie Meyer's best-selling vampire novels is the first to claim the number one spot three weekends running. It has so far earned more than 247 million dollars for Summit Entertainment.
Walt Disney's The Muppets, featuring puppet characters created by Jim Henson, took second place for a second week, with 11.2 million dollars in revenue.
Hugo, Oscar winner Martin Scorsese's first 3-D family film, was third on the chart, with 7.63 million dollars in sales, edging out Arthur Christmas, an animated story of Santa's high-tech North Pole operation, with 7.35 million dollars.//DPA
