Two major US stock indices remained steady&nbsp;a day after values surged on a strong report on new housing starts,but high technology stocks dropped.

	The&nbsp;Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 4.16 points, or 0.03 per cent at&nbsp;12,107.74, while the&nbsp; Standard &amp; Poor&#39;s 500 gained 2.42 points, or 0.19 per cent at&nbsp;1,243.72.&nbsp;

	The Nasdaq Composite&nbsp;shed 25.76 points, or 0.99 per cent at 2,577.97. \\\\ DPA
