Parents to be held responsible

Civil Court Secretary Narat Imsuksri explained yesterday that civil code held the parents of the 17yearold girl involved in the fatal December 2010 crash responsible.

As families of the deceased and the injured file lawsuits against the girl for Bt100 million in compensation, Narat said the codes’ Article 429 stated that the patents of a minor shall be held responsible unless it was proven that the parents had done their best to supervise the minor. The case will hit the court on March 5.

The suspect, also facing the criminal charge of reckless driving causing others’ deaths and injuries and using a cellphone while driving, was released on a Bt100,000 bail.
