Chawalit Arkhomthon, spokesman of the SSO board, said yesterday that so far, of the Bt62.53 billion owed to SSO in terms of government subsidiary, the agency had only been given Bt10.43 billion in May 2010. The government did not pay the Bt26.111 billion it was supposed to in 2011, and it needs to pay another Bt26.67 billion this year.
The SSO has been suffering from the lack of cash after it allowed employers’ contributions to be cut from 5 per cent to 3 per cent January to June this year, and to 4 per cent from July to December next year. Plus, the SSO has given another Bt10 billion to commercial banks cover loans for repairs of flood-damaged homes.
